World-class cuisine comes standard with every stay at Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge. Three exceptional meals are prepared each day by our chefs. See our sample menu below.

Emphasis is on local cuisine and fresh fish, tropical fruits and vegetables. The 165 acre preserve abounds with tropical fruit trees bearing mangoes, pineapple, starfruit, oranges, lemons, papayas, water apples, bananas, and of course, coconuts. The fresh squeezed juices and salsas are limitless!

Sample Two-Day Menu

DAY 1

Served family style, or, guests may dine alone upon request.

BREAKFAST

Every morning buffet table is set with:
Fruit platter consisting of fresh tropical fruits (mango, banana, starfruit, papaya, watermelon)
Granola cereal
Fresh squeezed fruit juice
Costa Rican coffee and assorted teas

Followed by the breakfast of the day:
Omelet with cheese, sautéed mild and hot peppers, garden herbs and onions
Sweet plantains
Fresh bread or tortillas baked on the premises

LUNCH

Gazpacho Soup
Black bean and mixed vegetable Quesadillas with
Homemade pico de gallo salsa
Mixed Salad topped with hearts of palm
Fresh squeezed mango/watermelon/banana fruit juice

Coconut bread
Costa Rican coffee and tea

BOCA

(A Costa Rican snack/appetizer)
Ceviche/sushi/sashimi
Guacamole and chips

The boca is served at our bar each day when guests gather before dinner to talk about their day´s adventures.

DINNER

Freshly caught fish (mahi-mahi, yellow fin tuna, red snapper, etc.)
grilled and topped with mango sauce
Carrots and spinach sautéed in ginger
Fried Yucca (a popular Latin American root vegetable, similar to potato)

DESSERT

Pineapple and coconut pie made with fruit grown on the preserve
Fresh lemongrass tea
Costa Rican Coffee

DAY 2

BREAKFAST

Nicuesa tropical salad topped with grilled yellow fin tuna
Camote (sweet potato) fries
Fresh brewed tamarind juice (a local fruit used for great juices)

Ginger cookies
Costa Rican coffee and assorted teas

BOCA

(Costa Rican snack/appetizer)
Patacones (Fried Green Plantains) served with fruit or spicy dipping sauce

The boca is served at ourbar each day when guests gather before dinner to talk about their day´s adventures
