Solorzano is a herpetologist who has spent more than 30 years studying the distribution, natural history and taxonomy of amphibians and reptiles in Costa Rica, especially snake species. He is the author of the book Serpientes de Costa Rica of the publisher of the National Institute of Biodiversity (INBio). Dozens of his scientific articles, including the discovery of several species have been published in national and international specialized magazines and other publications, as well as a profuse amount of journalistic and educational articles. He was the founder and director of the National Serpentarium, the first herpetario dedicated to the public exhibition of amphibian and reptile fauna for educational and tourist purposes, as well as research on the biology of these species in Costa Rica. He has been an adviser and protagonist of a large number of documentaries on Costa Rican wildlife for international television channels such as Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, National Geographic and BBC among others. He is currently an Associate Researcher at the Museum of Zoology at the University of Costa Rica.
