Beautiful location but let down by mediocre food for the money
Fantastic setting with very helpful staff. Excellent excursions with knowledgeable guides. Food was generally poor for example - overcooked fish, rancid butter and stale crisps served with evening meals. The accommodation was fine but of the 3 rooms, we occupied I had bats in my room. I did not mind the bats in the slightest but it meant that every time you walked in the room or got out of bed you were walking in bat droppings. This problem could be simply overcome with netting to prevent the bats nesting in the room in the first place

Incredible adventure in the rain forest!
We stayed 4 nights at the lodge and enjoyed every aspect of our visit. Our cabina was beautiful, clean and open to the rain forest. The food was great and bar was well stocked. The staff could not have been more accommodating. Our guide Josue gave us an adventure to remember kyaking the Corner river. We will be back

Great trip to the rain forest
Playa Nicuesa was a highlight during our month trip in Central America. The people are great - Derian and Josue in particular were brilliant; we had a grand room, the activities were exciting and well organised (waterfall hike, birding, river kayaking/wildlife), the bar was great and the food was plentiful. They live the eco-friendly approach in many practical ways and go out of their way to ensure their guests' enjoyment

Very 'Eco' but insufferably hot and humid with nowhere to cool off, dry off and escape the bugs
We spent 4 days here expecting to see a lot of wildlife and to experience the jungle - which you do - but being 'Eco' you are thrown in very much at the deep end. It is exceedingly hot and humid, there is no AC, the light bulbs are very dim, your room is pretty open tot he elements, and your clothes get very damp even in the suitcase. We enjoyed ourselves nonetheless and Valeria was a terrific guide (she seems to do everything around the lodge including sweeping up and bringing you drinks whilst the male staff seem to refer shooting the breeze and playing with the water sports equipment). However, we found that you see more wildlife elsewhere in Costa Rica. The food was good (although limited in range) and we greatly enjoyed the sunset boat trip where, out in the open, you see lots of dolphins and birds. We would strongly recommend going to the private Botanical Garden which is only 5 minutes boat ride away - Trudy and Ron have done an amazing job and are most helpful but take your own drinks. It's well worth $10 entry fee. In short, this is a place for eco-warriors but by all means give it a go providing you know what to expect
