How Nicuesa Lodge is preparing a safe adventure in nature for You

By: Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge / 18 May 2020
COSTA RICA ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: The entry of international travelers to Costa Rica currently has restrictions & requirements which should be taken into full account before planning your visit to Nicuesa Lodge & Costa Rica itself. Please make sure you comply with the current Costa Rica Government statutes, which you can read in the following link »

Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge is a "SafeTravels" certified operation (January 18, 2021). SafeTravel is the World Travel and Tourism Council's seal of approval which helps identify destinations and businesses that have adopted a new set of global safety and hygiene protocols. For a hotel to receive a Safe Travels stamp, it must ensure that its own safety guidelines align with the WTTC's core requirements (read about them >). Each set of protocols takes into account current World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control guidelines.

As the restrictions around the world begin to loosen, and travelers like yourself start planning your well-deserved vacation, we are thankful to report that all of our Nicuesa Team members are fully vaccinated, in excellent health and fully prepared to safely welcome guests to Nicuesa. These are some of the multiple health & safety measures that have been incorporated into our daily operations, giving top priority to providing a safe yet fully enjoyable adventure experience in nature for you.

THE NICUESA TEAM
We have provided proper gear & continued training to our operational & maintenance team so you may enjoy properly sanitized & secure premises and lodging spaces. Our isolated location with only 11 rooms offers that extra security that pristine nature provides.
FROM THE MOMENT YOU ARRIVE
Hand sanitizing station on boats; disinfection of luggage handles; umbrellas labeled and dedicated to each room; tour books/trail maps/guest books dedicated to each room.
DINING EXPERIENCE
Pedro, our on-site carpenter has placed his woodworking "taller" in action to handcraft beautiful small wooden dining tables that have replaced the large dining table in the main lodge. While we will certainly miss the communal dining experience, we are adapting to the new norm so all guests will still enjoy our signature tropical cuisine prepared by Chef Edixon in appropriately spaced private tables, to respect social distancing protocols.
TOURS & ACTIVITIES
Our signature guided tours and self-guided activities are all still happening with some subtle but important extra precautions related to the new norm. Guided Tours: All guided tours will have a maximum number of 4 guests or 2 sets of guests, whichever is smaller. Specific operational changes with regard to equipment are also occurring. For example, the Nicuesa chocolate tour that everyone loves so much will be conducted in a dedicated area on a dedicated stove. All boats have hand sanitizing stations so you may enjoy the river, dolphin, fishing and sunset tours without worry. Read on...
RECREATIONAL EQUIPMENT
All recreational equipment for guided and self-guided activities is now managed by our staff and handed out upon request and collected when guests are finished to ensure thorough sanitizing before and after each use. This includes the protective helmets worn on the waterfall hike, as are each fishing rod, kayak, paddle boards, paddle, snorkel equipment, life jacket, walking stick and rubber boots. And, don't forget about Yoga... as always, we continue to clean all mats & blocks before and after your sessions. And, for those of you that are looking for more quiet, less active enjoyment, reception staff is ready to hand out games such as darts, cards, backgammon, chess, jenga, etc. Bottom line… HAVE FUN!
HAND SANITIZING
A great benefit of Nicuesa in these times is its isolated location; but keeping your hands clean is ALWAYS good. You will now find hand sanitizing gel dispensers throughout our hotel premises - from the beach deck all the way up to the main lodge AND on the boats! - for your use as you deem necessary.

We hope to see you at Nicuesa soon! Contact us to help you plan your visit, or book directly online.

Keep safe!
