In honor of
Earth Day this month,
Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge is sowing the seeds for environmental awareness with guests and local communities with several fun activities.
On
Earth Day 2017 - April 22 - Nicuesa Lodge is taking part in a reforestation campaign in the local town of Puerto Jimenez across the gulf of Golfo Dulce from the lodge on the Osa Peninsula. Lodge guests are invited to join in planting trees to help
restore the environment from deforestation and the devastating effects of climate change. The Earth Day event is hosted by the
National and Environmental Community Service Association, and will feature talks and other activities in addition to the tree planting. Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge is deeply committed to sustainable tourism and protecting the environment.
During the days around April 22, Nicuesa Lodge will show the epic
Disney nature movie Earth and have a discussion afterward. Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge is deeply committed to
sustainability and caring for the environment, and lodge staff enjoys sharing this experience with guests who visit the lodge.
On April 23, Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge staff and any guests who want to help will clean the beach of any waste that has been dragged by ocean currents to the shore. The Costa Rica eco-lodge's continual efforts to keep Nicuesa Beach unspoiled led them to receive the prestigious
Ecological Blue Flag Award last month for the seventh time for having one of
Costa Rica's cleanest beaches. This is especially important since the unforgettable gulf of
Golfo Dulce is an important site for
migrating Pacific Humpback Whales and other marine life.
Nicuesa Beach received the prestigious Costa Rica Ecological Blue Flag Award this year for the 7th time.
Earlier this month, Nicuesa Lodge held a guest lecture on fascinating mangrove forests, which you can explore when you stay there by taking the
river kayaking tour in the mangrove estuary of the Rio Esquinas. They also hosted Alejandro Solórzano from the University of Costa Rica who gave a talk about the incredible
Costa Rica wildlife living around Nicuesa Lodge, and his investigations on
sea snakes in the Golfo Dulce.

Nicuesa Lodge's Commitment to Sustainability and the Environment
Nicuesa Lodge works hard to protect this
region of southern Costa Rica, which is a huge conservation area that includes the world-famous
Corcovado National Park on the
Osa Peninsula, the
Piedras Blancas National Park and three other private reserves, along with the gulf of Golfo Dulce.
Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge in Costa Rica was designed and built in harmony with the environment.
The unique
Costa Rica rainforest lodge was designed environmentally; all buildings are constructed from naturally fallen trees and recycled materials. That's why Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge is one of only a few dozen hotels in Costa Rica that hold the
highest rating in the
Certification for Sustainable Tourism Program (CST).
