My husband and I came to Nicuesa for our honeymoon and stayed 9 days. We couldn't have been any happier (and not just because we were newly married!). This is truly heaven. We traveled in August and while every morning was filled with sunshine and some sunbathing, late afternoons we enjoyed spectacular rains from the coziness of the lodge, while sipping on excellent cocktails made with love by the very best bar guy ever! We were so filled with excitement every single day we were here. It was true nature, true retreat and true love. Now, if you hate snakes (which I am phobic of) you might rethink it - but DON'T! I saw many, all in the safe and wise guardianship of the exceptional staff. We have photos of beautiful (scary) snakes doing their thing. I never felt unsafe with them, not once. We took guided kayak trips and saw every kind of bird, dolphins, snakes, monkeys, turtles. My husband is an avid bird watcher, and counted more variety at once in the region than the entire rest of his bird watching days. His father is an ornithologist so this is not an exaggeration. For me, it was pure heaven. No TV, no air conditioning (not needed), no distractions. Just peace, nature and friendly faces from all over the world. We all sat at the same table for meals, and interacted deeply. Lifelong relationships were made! The meals were by far the most delicious we have ever eaten anywhere!!! We both put on 10lbs during our 9 days, be warned! It was so unbelievable, we couldn't stop. And let's not even skip the Costa Rican coffee! My husband, not a coffee drinker, became one as he fell in love sip by sip with the magic of this coffee. This is not a place for people who want to dance the night away in a club, or get their pedicure while reading People magazine. This is a place for those who love nature, great food, real people, excellent wines and cocktails, rich coffees, unbelievable staff, totally eco fabulous, and heaven. I can't recommend it more. You will feel pampered, spoiled and become a whole new person while you're there
